Welcome to the help page for MercuryAds.co.za.

Please take a look through the following information before you email us a question. There are a few basic guidlines to using MercuryAds:

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

  • How do I create an account?
There are a few ways to do this. The easiest is to click on "Create free ad" at the top main menu, under "Ads". Then find the link on the login page that says "Register". Click on that link. Then fill in your basic details into the fields provided. Then click the "Register" button. You will then be sent an activation email to the email address you provided in the registration. Wait for this email and click on the "activation link". Once this has been done you will be able to login by clicking on "Create free ad".
  • How do I create an advert?
Simply login with the account you created. Click on "Create free ad", under "Ads" at the top of the website. Start by selecting the category you would like to place an ad in eg. Residential Property >> Rentals. Then work your way through the information required. Fields marked in RED are required, your ad will not be placed if you don't fill in these fields. After this click the "Save" button and your ad will appear on our website. Remember: start from the top and work your way down.
  • Why aren't my photos loading?
Answer: they are too big.
You will need to edit your photos by making them smaller (under 400kb). A good free program you can use to do this is GIMP (Click here for the download - Windows - Mac - Linux). To check if you have made them small enough right click on the file and click on properties, it should then tell you how big your file is.
  • Why are things turning dark red?
Answer: fill in the fields that are dark red and the ad will now save.
  •  How do I edit my ads?
Login using your username and password (to register and get a username and password go to the first point in this FAQ). Notice that a menu item on the left had side has now appeared called "My Menu". Click on "My Ads" to access the ads you have created. From this menu you can either "update" or "delete" the ad by clicking on the relevant links.

Notes on Holiday Accommodation Ads

  • Holiday accommodation ads are geared towards ads pertaining to single units. It is therefore advisable to place multiple ads if you have various units.
